Reach Codes

The City of South San Francisco has an ongoing commitment to promote sustainability and reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). As part of these efforts, the City has been working with Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) to explore the adoption of Reach Codes. “Reach Codes” are local amendments to the State Energy Codes intended to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Existing Reach Codes – New Residential Construction

On May 26, 2021, the City Council approved two reach codes to: (1) require electrical energy (and prohibit gas) in new residential construction (with certain exceptions); and (2) increase the number of EV charging stations in new residential construction. You can learn more at the following links:
