Boards & Commissions

City Hall

Serve on a Commission

Serving on a commission is an excellent way to give back to the community. Members have the opportunity to serve their fellow citizens and provide guidance and recommendations on specific issues for Council consideration. They contribute to the public process and help make a positive impact in the community. In addition, commissioners have opportunities to socialize, network, build their professional skillset and resume. They also have the opportunity to attend, participate, or organize special events.

How to Apply

If you are a resident of South San Francisco and would like to apply for a position on a City Board, commission or committee, download the application, print and return to the City Clerk's office. Applicants should also be motivated to serve the public and have sufficient time available to devote to day or evening meetings and the requisite preparation.

Board and Commission members are appointed by the City Council. Applications are accepted year round and kept on file for one year. Applicants will be contacted when interviews are scheduled.

* Please note, if you are appointed to serve on a Board or Commission, the Political Reform Act requires that you file an Annual Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) as well as complete biennial ethics training (AB 1234).
