The 51st annual South San Francisco Thanksgiving 5K Fun Run & Oyster Point Shoreline Park - Phase 2C Ribbon Cutting will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The Ribbon Cutting ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the race will start shortly after. 

Come and see the many new amenities including a new dog park, upgraded pathways, site lighting, fitness equipment, upgraded picnic areas, seating and improved landscaping and pathways. Light refreshments will be served. (The visit by the Peninsula Humane Society's mobile adoptions unit has been cancelled due to the rainy weather forecast to protect the health of the animals.)

The Fun Run is a great opportunity for community members of all ages to stay active. Whether you are looking for some challenging competition, an excuse for an enjoyable family stroll along the beautiful Bay Trail, or a route convenient to your location, this race is for you!  

Participants will be rewarded prizes for top finishers in each age group as well as entered into a raffle for prizes after the race concludes.

Teen (13Y - 17Y):  $6.00
 Adults (18Y & up): $10.00
 
Pre-Registration Deadline
  • In-person registration ends on Tuesday, November 19 at 5:00 p.m. at the Library | Parks and Recreation Center, 901 Civic Campus Drive. Visit the Administration office on the third floor.
  • Online registration ends on Wednesday, November 20 at 6:00 a.m. at www.ssf.net/rec-catalog.  Click on the "Special Events" tab.
Race Day Registration

Race day registration will be available at Oyster Point Shoreline Park from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Payment will be accepted by Cash or Check only.

T-Shirts $20. Deadline to order a shirt is October 31st at 5:00 p.m.

Bib & Shirt Pick Up

Bibs and shirts (note shirts are available only for those who registered prior to October 31, 2024 at 5 :00 p.m.) for pre-registered participants will be available early for pick-up on the following date / times at the Library | Parks and Recreation Building (901 Civic Campus Way) on the 3rd floor.

  •  Thursday, November 21 from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. 
  •  Friday, November 22 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

If you are picking up a bib / shirt for a friend or family member, you must present a copy of their registration receipt.

Prepare for Wet Weather

This event will take place rain or shine!  The weather forecast shows the possibility of rain so you may want to plan your race day attire accordingly.  Click here to view the weather forecast in South San Francisco.

Participant bib and t-shirt pick up opens. Event day race registration also available.

8:30 a.m. –11:30 a.m.

9:00 a.m.

Oyster Point Shoreline Park – Phase 2C Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Begins

Race kickoff immediately following the ceremony. Post race coffee, pastries, and snacks available in the Gathering Area after the ceremony.

10:30 a.m.

Top Turkey Award Ceremony Begins: Medals and awards will be given to our top runners.

Opportunity Drawing Winners Announced: All pre-registered runners are automatically entered to win a prize via an opportunity drawing. Winners will be determined prior to event day and awardee names will be posted in the Gathering Area.

 

Race Day Rules

  • No dogs are allowed on the racecourse unless they are service animals. Dogs are more than welcome to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and are invited to stay and enjoy the dog park after the race commences. 
  • No bikes or scooters are allowed on the racecourse.
  • Strollers are allowed on the racecourse.
  • Walkers: please go to the back of the start line.
  • Competitive runners: please go to the front of the line.
  • All participants can only go through the finish line one time!
