Building Attendant

Under direction of Recreation Supervisor, the Building Attendant is responsible for the efficient operation of events, classes and rentals conducted in one of several community centers.

Under direction of the Recreation and Community Services Supervisor, the Class Instructor plans and implements classes for children, teens, adults, and seniors. Classes run quarterly and are publicized through the South San Francisco Recreation and Community Services Activity Guide and City website.

Lifeguard

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Head Lifeguard, patrols or watches the activities in and around the swimming pool to enforce regulations and prevent accidents; rescues swimmers in distress; and works within well-defined standards, rules and regulations.

Middle School Sports Coach

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, coach a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade team. Coach implements practices 2 times a week during their season throughout the school year. Some sports are combined grades.

Preschool - Recreation Leader II/III

Under direction of the Recreation Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, Community Services Program Coordinator, and Preschool Teacher, the part-time hourly Recreation Leader assists in implementing a safe and developmentally appropriate recreational and educational program that provides for the full intellectual and social development of children enrolled in the Preschool Programs.

RAAP Coach

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, coach or co-coach one or more teams. Implement practices one time a week from 3:30pm – 5:30pm. Coaches will be able to choose which day of the week they will coach. Practice days are usually Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays, Games are played on Friday afternoons.

Scorekeepers

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator, manage the clock or scorebook during league games. There are usually two scorekeepers per game for youth sports and adult basketball and one scorekeeper for adult softball and each game lasts about one-hour.

Swim Instructor

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and/or Head Lifeguard, instructs organized aquatic safety and swim classes with the safety standards and procedures set by the American Red Cross.

Youth Enrichment Services - Recreation Leader II/III

Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, implement a safe and developmentally appropriate recreational and educational program that provides for the full intellectual and social development of children enrolled in the After School, Summer Camp, and/or Preschool Programs.
