What We Do

The Gene Mullin Community Learning Center’s educational programs, which focus on family support and community building, assist South San Francisco residents in reaching their full potential.

Our Mission

We believe that each child, youth and adult has unique strengths, talents and skills. Incorporating these gifts, we build a community where people learn and teach each other in order to experience personal and professional success. We are committed to building an environment that fosters:

Some of the Program Opportunities Offered at the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (CLC)

Adult Program

Adult Classes and Workshops

  • Basic Computer
  • Beginner English classes and workshops
  • Citizenship Classes and workshops
  • One on one beginner English and Computer tutoring.

Support Programs

  • Open computer lab hours for adults to access personal and essential information online
  • Familias Fuertes, a support group for guardians of children with disabilities
  • Immigration, Citizenship, Housing Information Forums in English and Spanish
  • Parenting workshops to help raise children – preschool to high school
  • Navigating the educational system: Pre-K to college opportunities
  • Children’s activities available for children ages 4 - 12 years while parents attend CLC sessions

Youth Program

Homework Club

  • An Out-of-School-Time program for elementary school age children in 3rd through 5th grade who live or attend a school in South San Francisco. The program is designed to provide students with academic enrichment opportunities while also fostering a love for learning in a safe environment.

Teen Internship

  • An opportunity for high school teens to earn a scholarship and develop workforce skills by supporting our out-of-school time program, Homework Club. High school teens will also participate in career/college planning workshops during their internship.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities available for high school students and adults. Training available.
