Community Development Block Grant

Community Development Program

The City of South San Francisco receives annual funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The CDBG program provides resources to address a wide range of community development needs principally for low-income households. CDBG can be used to provide services and home repairs to the most vulnerable in our community, make capital improvements to the lower income neighborhoods, and to create jobs through the expansion and retention of businesses.

HUD Programs have three basic goals to assist extremely low, very-low, and low income persons by:

  1. Providing decent and affordable housing;
  2. Providing a suitable living environment; and
  3. Expanding economic opportunities
