Program Year 2022-2024 CDBG-Funded Programs

Each year the City of South San Francisco provides grants for public services using funds from its Community Block Grant Program entitlement. Grants are awarded through the CDBG Program to non-profit organizations for provision of public services to low- and moderate-income residents of the City of South San Francisco. Organizations must address one of the following priority needs in order to be considered for funding:

  • Basic human needs - including, but not limited to, access to food, shelter, health programs, workforce development, and legal services
  • Senior services
  • Youth Services
  • Affordable housing - this includes preserving current and providing new housing

Peninsula Volunteers
Meals on Wheels Program – Delivers hot and nutritious meals to primarily homebound seniors and adults with disabilities in San Mateo County.

Center for the Independence of Individuals with Disabilities (CID)
Provides modifications to homes of persons with disabilities to improve accessibility and increase safety.

El Concilio of San Mateo County
Provides minor home repair services to low-income homeowners of San Mateo County and enable very-low-, low- and fixed-income homeowners whose homes do not qualify for the PG&E Energy Savings Program become eligible to benefit from energy conservation solutions.

Housing Grant Programs

Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA)
Provides emergency shelter for victims and survivors of domestic violence and their children for up to 6 months.

Home Sharing Program - Facilitates two types of home sharing arrangements, rent or service exchange, through interviewing and screening clients.

Voucher Programs

Debris Box Vouchers are issued to clear code violations and for emergencies. Debris box vouchers are targeted for the cleanup of conditions that affect the health, safety, or appearance of properties. For information or to apply:

Emergency Home Repair Vouchers are provided as grants of up to $5,500 for qualifying homeowners. These vouchers apply to emergency minor home repairs and minor code violations, such as broken sewer lines, water heater replacement, roof repairs, broken windows, etc.
