Electioneering

Electioneering, which constitutes criminal activity, is the circulation of a petition as well as any type of advocacy for or against any candidate or measure on the ballot within the immediate vicinity of a person in line to cast their ballot or within 100 feet of the entrance of a polling place, voting center, curbside voting or ballot drop box. Per state law, any person who engages in electioneering may be guilty of a misdemeanor; violations are subject to fine and/or imprisonment.

Any of the following activities are prohibited within the immediate vicinity of a person in line to cast their ballot or within 100 feet of the entrance of a polling place, voting center, curbside voting or drop box:

  • Ask a person to vote for or against any candidate or ballot measure.
  • Display a candidate’s name, image, or logo.
  • Block access to or loiter near any ballot drop boxes or voting centers.
  • Provide any material or audible information for or against any candidate or ballot measure near any polling place, voting center, or ballot drop box.
  • Circulate any petitions, including for initiatives, referenda, recall, or candidate nominations.
  • Distribute, display, or wear anything that includes a candidate’s name, image, logo, and/or support or oppose any candidate or ballot measure.
  • Display information or speak to a voter about the voter’s eligibility to vote.

    que incluya el nombre, la imagen o el logo de un candidato, o apoye o se oponga a un candidato
    o medida electoral.
  • No muestre información ni hable con un elector sobre su elegibilidad para votar.

Saan:

  • Sa lugar malapit sa taong nakapila para bumoto sa kanyang balota o sa loob ng 100 talampakan mula sa pasukan ng lugar ng botohan, curbside voting, o drop box, ang mga sumusunod na aktibidad ay ipinagbabawal.

Ano ang mga aktibidad na ipinagbabawal:

  • Huwag utusan ang isang tao na iboto o hindi iboto ang sinumang kandidato o anumang panukala sa balota.
  • Huwag ipakita ang pangalan, larawan, o logo ng isang kandidato.

  • Huwag magbigay ng anumang materyales o naririnig na impormasyon na nasa panig ng o laban sa sinumang kandidato o anumang panukala sa balota malapit saanmang lugar ng botohan, vote center, o drop box ng balota.
  • Huwag magpakalat ng anumang petisyon, kabilang ang para sa mga inisyatiba, referendum, recall, o nominasyon ng kandidato.
  • Huwag mamahagi, magpakita, o magsuot ng anumang damit (mga sumbrero, damit, sign, butones, sticker) na may pangalan, larawan, logo ng isang kandidato, at/o suportahan o kalabanin ang sinumang kandidato o panukala sa balota.
  • Huwag magpakita ng impormasyon o kumausap ng botante tungkol sa pagiging kwalipikado ng botante na bumoto
