Pruning or Removing City Trees
The
pruning or removing of City trees is completed by City Staff. City
maintained trees may be on land owned by the City, City Right of Ways,
or in front of homes and commercial property within the City tree
easement. Service is usually restricted, but not limited, to those
trees originally planted by the City. Requests for either of these
services may be made by contacting our Parks Division at (650)
829-3837. Service is based upon need or necessity. For instance; storm
emergencies, traffic and safety needs, and projects have priority over
cosmetic or aesthetic needs.
For more information, visit the Tree Removal Permits page.
Planting of new City Trees
Homeowners
may request a tree to be planted in front of their home. These trees
shall be provided only if it is feasible for a tree to thrive within
the City easement so as not to interfere with underground or overhead
utilities, vehicles, buildings, or signage. Each new tree’s location
shall be evaluated by a representative of the Park Division in order to
determine if the site is suitable. Individual homes may request ONE
tree, while "corner" homes may request TWO trees. Trees planted are
based on availability. Scheduled planting shall be based upon pruning
or removal schedules. Planting requests may be made be contacting our
Parks Division at (650) 829-3837. Click on the links attached for more
