Other Volunteers Opportunities

Volunteer positions are available in several City Departments. Duties vary depending on the department and the specific position. Please choose the area(s) you would be most interested in volunteering in.*

Library Children Services needs after-school volunteers, summer volunteers, or reader leaders. Library Adult Services needs volunteers in Circulation, Reference, and the History Room. Project Read needs tutors to help adults learn to read, write and spell better. Community Learning Center needs volunteers to help with after-school homework programs, adult English classes, adult computer classes, drop-in computer lab, creative activities for children, and administrative support. Pre-school, children, and teen/adult classes offered by the Recreation Department need volunteers to assist class instructors. Recreation Department needs volunteers to assist staff with a variety of duties for special events. Orange Park Pool needs volunteers for the swim aid program. Must be at least 13 years of age and have passed the Intermediate (Level V) swimming class. Senior Services needs volunteers for host desk, administrative support, and special events.

Summer Camp Program needs volunteers to assist with the program. Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. Supplemental application required. Community Action Team - Field Inspection needs volunteers to go out into the neighborhoods and follow up on code enforcement complaints received by the Fire Department. Fire Department needs volunteers for administrative support. Fire Department needs volunteers to help with a variety of several special events during the year. Currently there is a spring and fall clean up where an area in South San Francisco is identified for enhancement. Police Department needs volunteers for administrative support type of work, such as computer data entry, filing paperwork and reports.
