Tony Barrera is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in Information Technology (IT) and Management. Graduating from San Francisco State University with a major in Business Information and Computing Systems, Tony embarked on a career journey that began in IT as a field technician. Specializing in setting up and troubleshooting private business networks, Tony quickly demonstrated a skill for solving complex technical issues and optimizing network performance.
In 1998, Tony transitioned to the public sector, joining the City as an IT Contractor. Initially serving as the City System Administrator, Tony’s expertise and dedication led to a full-time employment offer in 2000. Over the years, Tony progressed within the City's IT Department, assuming roles such as Systems Administrator and eventually Senior Systems Administrator.
Recognized for a visionary approach to technology integration and a passion for enhancing operational efficiencies, Tony was appointed IT Manager in 2017. This role expanded Tony's responsibilities, overseeing broader IT initiatives and implementing innovative technologies to streamline processes.
In 2019, Tony was promoted to IT Director, a testament to his leadership and strategic judgment in leveraging technology to drive organizational success. As IT Director, Tony continues to spearhead transformative projects that propel the City forward, focusing on integrating new technologies that improve service delivery and enhance overall efficiency.
