Welcome to the official Concert in the Park: Community Fun Fest website! The City of South San Francisco's Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to announce the return of its annual free Concert in the Park: Community Fun Fest on Saturday, September 21, at Orange Memorial Park Picnic Meadow. The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering a day filled with music, food, and fun for the entire family.

This year’s Concert in the Park promises to be a memorable experience, featuring a dynamic performance stage, an array of activities for kids, and the return of popular vendor booths. Attendees can look forward to a wide selection of food trucks offering delicious local treats, as well as beer and wine sales to enhance the festive atmosphere.

The highlight of the event will be live performances by the Grammy Award-winning musical group Dazz Band and the acclaimed Blessid Union of Souls. With their chart-topping hits and captivating stage presence, these artists are sure to entertain concert-goers of all ages.

About the Bands

Dazz Band

Blessid Union of Souls

American Alternative rock band Blessid Union of Souls from Cincinnati, Ohio debut their first song Home in 1995, and has since sold millions of records worldwide, consistently creating music that resonates deeply with audiences. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of their iconic single I Believe—which topped charts and was the 4th most played song on radio in 1995—the band’s message of hope and unity continues to inspire. How to get around

Overflow Parking

Limited parking is available at Orange Memorial Park. Overflow parking is available at the South San Francisco High School parking lot, located at El Camino Real and Ponderosa Rd.

Handicapped Parking

Parking

Limited parking will be available at the parking lots at Orange Memorial Park.  The parking lots include:

  • Tennis Drive Parking Lot (limited handicap parking available)
  • Memorial Drive (limited handicap parking available)
  • Lot A (next to the Boys and Girls Club)
  • South San Francisco High School – 400 B Street, South San Francisco
  • If parking in the surrounding community please be respectful of the neighbors.

Biking/Walking

Biking and walking is always encouraged.  Take advantage of Centennial Trail that connects to Orange Memorial Park from both the South San Francisco Bart station and the San Bruno Bart Station. 

Bike racks are located throughout the park, including adjacent to the playground off of Tennis Dr.

FAQ's

Do I need tickets for the Concert or activities?

South San Francisco Concert in the Park is a free community event.  No tickets are needed.  However, there will be food and drink sales at this event.

 

When does the park open?

Orange Memorial Park opens at sunrise and closes at sunset.  Concert festivities will  begin at 11:00 a.m.  Feel free to come early and enjoy Orange Memorial Park.

 

Is there reserved seating for this event?

There is no reserved seating for this event.  All seating is on a first come first serve basis.  All attendees should plan to bring their own chairs and blankets for sitting on the lawn.  Please be mindful of your neighbors and their line of vision when setting up higher back chairs.

 

Can I bring a sunshade such as canopies or umbrellas?

Is alcohol allowed at the Concert?

Can I smoke at the Concert in the Park event?

Smoking of any kind is prohibited anywhere in the park as identified in chapter 8.5 of the South San Francisco Municipal Code.

 

Are pets allowed at the event?

Licensed service animal are always welcome.  We kindly ask that all other pets stay at home as there will be large crowds and amplified noise.

 

Can my community group have a resource table at Concert in the Park?

The 2024 Concert in the Park will include an Exhibitor Area featuring exhibitor booths hosting a variety of nonprofit organizations, community service information, and local vendors selling a variety of wares. The application period for an exhibitor booth is now closed. Interested groups may apply to be on the waiting list by contacting Laura Armanino at laura.armanino@ssf.net.

 

Where do I collect lost & found items?

Please check the Parks and Recreation information booth located in the Exhibitor Area. All lost & found items not claimed the day of the event can be collected at the Recreation office at (901 Civic Campus Way, 3rd Floor) for up to 2 weeks following the Concert in the Park.

Exhibitors

Invitation for Exhibitor Booths

Save the date for the South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department Concert in the Park: Community Fun Fest 2024 on Saturday, September 21! This free event will take place at Orange Memorial Park from 11:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Family and friends of all ages are encouraged to join in the festivities.

Local community groups are invited to apply to host an exhibitor booth. Spaces are limited!

Who can host an exhibitor booth?

Organizations located in, or providing services to, South San Francisco can apply. Priority will be granted to City of South San Francisco and affiliated/co-sponsored. Groups, other government entities, and local nonprofit groups.

Due to the setup of the exhibitor booths, no distribution of food or drink to the public will be allowed.

 

What do exhibitors receive?

Exhibitors will receive a 10’x10’ high peak festival tent, one 6’ table, and two chairs. Exhibitor name will be published in the event program. Exhibitors will be issued ONE parking pass, which entitles ONE vehicle per booth to enter the Park, drop off display items, and park in designated interior parking lot.

 

How do organizations apply for an exhibitor booth?

Read the South San Francisco Concert in the Park Exhibitor Guidelines(PDF, 102KB)Deadline for submissions closed on Friday, August 9, 2024. Once accepted, applicants must pay a $50 participation fee. If selected, exhibitors must attend a mandatory event orientation meeting on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will take place via Zoom.

About Concert in the Park: Community Fun Fest 2024

 

The Concert in the Park: Community Fun Fest 2024 will feature one stage, a Family Fun Zone, the return of exhibitor booths, as well as food trucks and beer and wine sales. This free family-oriented community event will include activities for all ages to enjoy. Youth will have a blast in the Family Fun Zone! Hungry concert goers can indulge in a variety of local tasty treats, food trucks, and various vendors. More details will be announced in the coming weeks!
