Volunteer Opportunities for Teens

Main Library and Grand Avenue Branch Library
Teen Volunteers must be 16 - 18 years old, and must commit to a minimum of 50 hours of service or 2 hours per week for 6 months. Volunteers shelve books, clean books, photocopy, help staff prepare for craft programs, and assist with summer reading club sign-ups and activities. After-school volunteers work one two-hour shift a week from 4 to 6 pm on weekdays only. Summer volunteers are encouraged to be a Reader Leader in addition to regular volunteer duties.

Volunteers may apply for library and other city volunteer opportunities online here, or by obtaining a paper form from either of the library branches.

Each leader is assigned one child to work with during the program. Reading pairs meet for one hour per week at designated times. Learn more about the program or apply here.
