Families for Literacy

Learners with children or grandchildren 10 years old or younger can take part in Families for Literacy (FFL) events.

Storytimes
During storytime, we read stories, sing songs, and act out rhymes with children and parents. A craft activity and healthy snack follow the stories. We make reading fun and each family is given a children’s book to build their own home library.

Science Club
Learners and their children have fun with science as we make things pop, wiggle, fizz, and sizzle. Have a healthy snack and get a free children’s book, too!
Families for Literacy
FFL Workshops
Child safety, parenting skills, and nutrition are just a few of the workshops we offer. Bring the kids, join the fun, and get a free children’s book.

Literacy, Food & Fitness (LFF)
This nutrition and literacy program is for young children and their parents and caregivers. Families learn about healthy eating and physical activity habits that will last a lifetime through story times, hands-on nutrition, and physical activities. They learn to make healthy snacks and also receive free books about food and exercise.
