Important Historic Sites and Structures
The Historic Preservation Commission was appointed by the City Council in 1986 to identify South San Francisco's most important historic sites and structures. The Commission is charged with protecting them from needless neglect, exterior alteration that might destroy their historic and architectural value, or demolition. These goals are accomplished by designating landmarks as Historic Resources, which have a special status and recognition in the community. Such structures are important representatives of the past and present spirit of South San Francisco.
