A Resident's Reflection on South San Francisco
Chances are he’s delivered a package or two to you. Driver for the United Parcel Service (UPS) for 26 years and father of two, Archie Evangelista, spends his days and nights in South San Francisco and that’s just fine by him. “It’s such a fun city, I genuinely enjoy living here.” These are his reflections on South San Francisco.
When did you move to South San Francisco?
My family came to South San Francisco in the early 1970’s from San Francisco.
Educational opportunities. My parents had heard great things about the South San Francisco school district and that’s what prompted them to move from San Francisco. We now have two generations living here and I have to say, my daughter LOVES her school!
When I can’t get to Physique Magnifique on Grand Avenue or feel like I need some fresh air, I like to hike the trails at Sign Hill, it’s a great workout. Other than the amazing views, I am learning more and more about the history of Sign Hill and think more people should take time to learn about it. It’s the gateway to our City and makes it special for many reasons.
The marina at Oyster Point is a little piece of paradise. You can even the see the East Bay on a clear day! What is your favorite thing to do in South San Francisco?
I can’t get enough of the sandwiches at Little Lucca. It’s that darn secret sauce! My go-to order is roast beef on dutch crunch – don’t forget the secret sauce!
What do you want other people to know about South San Francisco?
Working and living here, I spend my days and nights in this City and never run out of things to do. It’s a fun place with a variety of quality activities for generations to enjoy.
