What is a MakerSpace?

At its foundation, a makerspace is simply any space with equipment where people gather to make, learn, and share resources. These spaces encourage collaboration and learning through the availability of a number of tools, computers, and other equipment.

The LibLab seeks to foster STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education at all age levels. We are your partners in learning, and encourage you to develop new skills, and unleash your creativity in this hands-on environment.

The Collaboration Room

Our Collaboration Room is the perfect space for small group meetings and group projects, and has a high-end design computer with a 65-inch touch-screen and a range of creative software, including:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop)
  • Microsoft Office
  • ProTools
  • SketchUp
For booking, please use our reservation form.

Please arrive on time for any reservation. Equipment will be available for the exact time for which it has been reserved. If the responsible party does not arrive within the first 15 minutes, the person(s) may lose their equipment reservation if another group requests its use.

Volunteer

We are always looking for community volunteers and participation. If you have experience with any of the above equipment, would like to share your skills, if you would like to make material donations, or if you work in an established MakerSpace and can offer advice and guidance, we’d love to talk to you!  Please call (650) 829-3860 for more information.

To sign up for volunteering, please see our
 Library Technology Aide information page.
