LESLIE ARROYO
Leslie has nearly 20 years of work experience ranging from consulting, television, private sector public relations and now the public sector. Currently, Leslie is the Communications Director for the City of South San Francisco. She is responsible for managing an overall strategic communications plan including news media relations, public information, community relations and marketing the City of South San Francisco.
 
Prior to joining the City of South San Francisco as the Communications Director, she was a Vice President/Management Supervisor for Ketchum Public Relations, a very large and prominent PR firm in San Francisco. Leslie was with Ketchum for five years, having worked the previous five years for Carmichael Lynch Spong Public Relations, also in San Francisco. During her ten years plus career in public relations, Leslie designed and implemented public relations and advertising programs, incorporating all facets of social media and traditional outreach; facilitated and executed press events, media alerts, press releases and media management strategies; developed and maintained reporter relationships; developed branding and long range communication strategic plans; trained, counseled and mentored staff and executives on media relations and public appearances; planned for and handled crisis communications for corporate clients. 

Prior to working in public relations, Leslie was an on-air television reporter and news anchor specializing in local political and education reporting, first at KNVN in Chico, California, then KRNV in Reno, Nevada, and lastly at KMSP in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During her on-air career she was selected as a National Press Foundation Fellow. 

Leslie has a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Communications from the University of Minnesota. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Public Relations Society of America (San Francisco Chapter) and is currently the Northern California Director-at-large for the California Public Information Officers Association (CAPIO).
