Windharp

A 15 feet square tower rising 92 feet was originally commissioned as a focal point for Cabot and Forbes Industrial Park. Falling into disrepair by 1993 the City Council pursued acquisition of the Wind Harp, with support from Genentech and others restored, and dedicated the structure. Wind harps are acoustic sculptures that interact with the atmosphere to create musical tones, which vary in pitch and intensity with the changing speed and direction of the wind.

Artist: Lucia and Aristides Demetrios, renovated in 1996.
Location: Grandview Drive, near Genentech.
