In an effort to improve driving conditions throughout South San Francisco, we are beginning a project to pave 2.7 million square feet of street beginning Monday, May 5, 2008. (Work may be postponed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or equipment breakdown)

The City of South San Francisco is making a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint. While we do not currently have formal programs in place, many of our departments have taken significant steps to reduce carbon emissions, conserve water and explore other energy saving opportunities.

Bill Moody, author and musician, will be at the Main Library, 840 West Orange Avenue, Saturday, May 31 from 12 - 1 to talk about his newest mystery book Shades of Blue. Refreshments will be provided by Friends of the Library.

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Orange Memorial Park Recreation Building, to be dedicated on Saturday, May 31, at 11:00 am.

Residents of all ages are enjoying a new, one mile stretch of trail that was opened on April 19, running between Orange Avenue and Tanforan. Walkers, joggers, strollers, and bicyclists can enter the trail on Orange Avenue at Memorial Drive; Spruce Avenue just east of Huntington; and at Tanforan, just across the street from the BART parking structure. Each entry node includes an attractive landscape area and kiosk.

The City is offering assistance for homeowners and residents to improve their systems and in the process help reduce inflow and infiltration (I & I) into the sewer lines, which can improve the quality of the waters of the San Francisco Bay.
